Tips to record Movies in Google Earth
There are some useful tips that can help you to create quality movies. Before you begin your recording, familiarize yourself with the tips mentioned below to produce best possible movies for your needs.
Update the Movie player: Make sure that you have the latest version of Apple Quick time or windows media player installed. It is essential to make good quality movies. If you have any issues with graphics quality of the movie then it is necessary to upgrade your movie player.
Upgrade your Graphics card driver: Although a graphics card driver has no impact on actual recording of the movie, faulty graphics card drivers will produce abnormalities in 3D viewer that can then transfer into your movie itself. That is why it is essential that you update your driver for avoiding any rendering issues. Hence, it is recommended that a graphics card of at least 64 megabytes of video RAM is a must.
Increase your cache memory: By increasing memory cache size, the movie recording experience will definitely go faster (although it won't have any impact on final quality of the movie).
Increase detail area of your 3D viewer: When you increase detail area of your 3D viewer, you are able to capture all pixels in detail. Due to this, resolution of the movie improves. Setting 'detail area' to large is essential if the graphics card memory size is 64 megabytes. If the RAM size is less than 64 MB, set the 'detail area 'field to medium.
Adjust Touring Speed: When recording, its best to use slow tour speed. But do not hesitate to try different speeds. You can then play back your movie for evaluating whether speed is appropriate. Note that the tour speed that you will choose is going to be consistent and will not vary throughout the movie. Different tour speeds in the same movie can also be set for different place marks. For that, separate movie files should be created for each tour and after that you will have to edit these files in the movie making software.
Adjust Elevation Exaggeration: Users can also enhance appearance of terrain shown in your movie by adjusting the Elevation Exaggeration.
Hiding or showing items in 3D viewer: To show or hide the compass, grid, scale legend or status bar, simply check or uncheck these items in view menu. Likewise in the same menu, it is possible to uncheck or check 'Atmosphere ' for hiding the atmosphere that is around the globe.
Preview tour set up before you start recording: It’s a nice idea to review tour points in Google Earth that you wish to visit in the movie. This involves 2 actions:
In places, panel select a folder to see all place marks that are within the folder. You can also choose individual items from the folder for viewing only the selected ones. Click play button that is below places panel in order to play your tour. When you play the tour, you will get an idea of how your movie is going to look. After you preview the movie, make any adjustments if necessary before recording. For instance, for changing the view of a place mark on your tour, right click on place mark and choose snapshot view in menu.
