Is it possible to use Google Earth on Ubuntu?

Google Earth maps the earth accurately using images from satellite imagery and aerial photography. If you want to use this software application then the first thing that you need to do is access “Google Earth” download page. Locate “Linux” radio button. You will be easily be able to locate the button under category Beta.

2] Once you do this, you have to click on the download Google Earth button. Now, what you need to do is open a terminal window and locate your default download directory. Now, in the directory, just type the following command “shGoogleEarthLinux.bin.

3] You will be prompted for every step in the installation process. Follow the prompts very carefully and complete the installation. Once, you have completed the installation by following the instructions, you need to access the software program by simply opening it from the default location. The default location of this software application is: "/usr/local/google/google-earth".

4] To open newly installed software application, type the command given below: /usr/local/google/google-earth/googleearth. If your Ubuntu operating system launches Google Earth automatically, then this means a current account is already installed on your pc. In such a case, you need to select the option “Run free version” in order to use this Google Earth application.

If you get the option for entering the server that you wish to use then just select the database that you want to view in “Google Earths-Select Server window”. Another way to change server in Ubuntu is to log into Google Earth and then click on “file” option. Log out, then log back in and select server that you desire from drop down menu.
