In this article, we will look at the World of Jupiter.

The name ‘Jupiter’ itself keeps us to imagine the giant size and massiveness of the planet. It is the largest planet in our solar system. It will not be exaggerating if we say Jupiter as a king of entire solar system. Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system. Most interesting feature of observing Jupiter in the world wind program is that it is having easy to view format. However, NASA World Wind version 1.3.4 and above are capable of showing this functionality.

Planet Jupiter is having fifth place in the solar system. The meaning of the word ‘Jupiter’ is “Teacher or King of all Gods’. This name is derived from the Roman traditions. In astronomically viewpoint, Jupiter is the most gigantic planet in the solar system. Its weight is 2.5 times the total collective weight of all other planets in the solar system. It is almost twelve times the size of Earth. From this, you can get idea, how large and gigantic it is.

Planets like Mercury, Mars, Venus and Earth are solid planets. Unlike these planets, Jupiter is a Gaseous Giant. Therefore, it is not possible to visit it practically as there is no solid place to keep our feet on this gaseous planet.. Jupiter is the third brightest Objects when viewed from our globe.

Now let us look at its composition. It is mainly composed of Hydrogen. In addition, small amount of Helium is also present. This gigantic planet has tremendous gravity. Its Gravity is most potent as compared to that of all other planets in the solar system. Another interesting specialty of planet Jupiter is its rapid rate of spinning.

With NASA World Wind program, you can even view the moons of Jupiter. At present, there are sixty-three moons, which are revolving around planet Jupiter. However, there are four large moons. They are collectively designated as Galilean moons. The name is given in memories of Great scientist Galileo who discovered this. These moons are named as Ganymede, Europa, Io and Callisto. The Ganymede is the biggest moon of planet Jupiter. This largest moon of planet Jupiter is bigger than Mercury planet.

For enjoying the virtual ride of this huge planet and its moons, you can view planet Jupiter by using NASA World wind program. Just select ‘start program’ then switch to World Wind Jupiter version 1.3. We should thank to World Wind program which has given us fabulous opportunity to view this planet.
