World Wind NASA with LandSat 7

World Wind lets you zoom in or zoom out from a satellite into any place on earth with high-resolution. This will allow you to experience the planet earth in a visually rich 3D format. The application is developed, keeping in mind the ease of usability to people who are not comfortable using computers. They will find it easy to use. You can control the entire application with just two buttons of mouse. The simplified menu is provided by the site itself which will help to solve your problem, if you have any. You can even type in any location that will provide you the right images. The navigation is automated and can run the application efficiently on any operating system. However, minimum system requirements are specified in the download section of the website.

World wind NASA has spectacular true-color images. It puts together variety of data from different satellites such as Terra and MODIS or blue marble. It provides images with 1 km per pixel resolution. You can even reveal extremely detailed mosaic data and continue to zoom past blue marble. There is LandSat 7 impressive 15 m per pixel resolution images, which are collection of images from 1999 to 2003. It includes infrared spectrum and color bands. Once they are downloaded and available on your machine, you will be able to browse the different sets of images. If any change occurs, Worldwide NASA automatically inherits the change and makes necessary updates and adds that data in a scientifically accurate manner.

The data provided by LandSat 7 is too vast to be stored on a single machine. World wind downloads what you are viewing and it stores a compressed copy of unused data that you might want to view later. The images can be viewed at eye level. Users can literally fly from one place to another across the world. It exaggerates and hence, users are able to easily pick out details if he/she wants. The Goddard Space has developed visually intense animations. It will demonstrate different subjects like seasonal changes and hurricane dynamics across the globe. Anyone can grasp the working and play with these animations directly on the world. The world will rotate automatically.

MODIS or Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer produces data that is updated every day. It also catalogs storms, smoke, floods and even volcanic activities. The application can be easily customized with marking on the globe. If you click on the mark, you will get detailed information of the particular place which you can download later. The new set of images can be downloaded every day. The “tour mode” will automatically skim through.

During the early 80’s, U.S. was facing some troubles in flight manufacturing. NASA helped them in solving the difficulty. After doing a detail investigation, the Astronauts at NASA finished a detailed article on research about “Aerial Navigation”. They explain the 4 aerodynamic forces of flights as lift, drag, weight and thrust. The article also explained the affiliation between these factors which plays a vital role. This research helped the flight industry to the great extent. The project was successfully completed because of world wind, as it provided accurate and real-time information about weather and other factors.

I highly recommend the Google Software Pack. It comes with a lot of great software that is all FREE. You can also pick and choose which of the software products you want to download. You don't have to download them all. If you have a Mac or you don't want the Google Software Pack for some reason you can download it directly from the main site.
