How Earth Browser is helpful for users

Earthquakes: With this button, Earth browser can display the latest 40 major earthquakes around the world, including the time, location, estimated magnitude and depth of the earthquake. The earth browser display will show users earthquakes as an animated colored dot with number (i.e.; youngest to oldest: red, purple green, blue). Holding the cursor over it will provide users the information about its size, time and location. Clicking on the icon, it will send the web browser to the USGS earthquake website with detailed information about particular Earthquake. Earthquake information is provided by the USGS.

Volcanoes: This button turns on the list of volcanoes around the world; Volcanoes active in the last 5 years will be large and have smoke. Holding the cursor over the volcano icon will display the name and location of the volcano. Clicking on the icon will display the name and location of the volcano. Clicking on the icon will take you to a website describing that volcano. The website includes pictures, observations and activity reports for that particular volcano and it is updated as more information is acquired.

Satellite Overlay: The near real time satellite overlay images that are a day old. The images are of the same resolution as the underlying map, giving an exact overlay. Images are updated daily at irregular intervals sand only cover definite areas of the globe.

Storms: The storms button will show the currently active tropical storms across the world. The storm icons will show the name and current wind speed of the storm. Its path will also be displayed as a multicolored line. By clicking on the icon will take with more information on that storm and other storms in that region.

Sea Surface Temperatures: With the help of this button, Earth Browser displays a weekly (8 day) sea surface temperatures up to 1 year. A legend is displayed in the lower left corner of the window that shows the temperature and the animation frame.

Iceberg Tracking: Earth Browser will also display Antarctic Icebergs and their movement tracks for the past twenty years. The most of the recent Icebergs have links to satellite imagery of those icebergs.

Ocean Buoy Data: The Ocean Buoy button can display ocean buoys around Europe and America that are linked with the national buoy data center. Each buoy can display such information as wind speed, direction and gusts, atmospheric temperature, barometric pressure, dew point water surface temperature, wave height, and the visibility information.

Settings: It toggles the settings window continuing in the main window. The settings have controls, which enable to customize the appearance and the function of the Earth browser. You can toggle the display of city lights, political borders, stars, and tectonic plates.

The settings window: When you turn on the country names and/or the ocean features, it will draw the country or state name and/or ocean feature directly on the globe. This is a very useful tool to explore the geography of the earth, when the political borders are on.
